Expansion Is Coming To Brussels Airlines LOFT Business Lounge

I've written a review about the LOFT Business Lounge, Brussels before, in general, I can see this development coming to the lounge at Brussels airport.Based on my numerous visits to the lounge beofore, I've never managed to find a place to sit right away. The current lounge itself is quiet big, with quiet generous sitting space. However, a sizeable amount of the space has divided into specific areas where they are sponsored by banks, laptop brand and even Skype.

The new expansion plan was launched at 25th April, with current lounge area take up to 1,240m², a further 800m² will be extended to the lounge space; thus with a total of 2,000m², it would be able to serve up to 500 guests at a time.

Other key development of the lounge would be featuring an exclusive area for HON Circle members, according to Business Traveller,it would feature the following special amenities:

  • A Miele kitchen offering “an array of the finest gastronomy”,

  • A game room with a red velvet pool table,

  • A Grohe spa with 11 bathrooms,

  • Private nap rooms inspired by the carrier’s forthcoming new long-haul business class offering.

  • A massage area with Panasonic relax chairs which simulate “the Shiatsu treatment available in the seating of the new Lexus LS sedan”

"With the aim of being “an ambassador for Belgium”, Brussels Airlines has also incorporated elements including historical items from the Tintin universe, food by Belgian caterer Newrest, coffee by family-owned company Rombouts, chocolates by Neuhaus, and beers from AB inBev at the Belgian Bar."

This picture is a supposed mockup design of the exclusive HON Circle area where guests get to order directly from Miele restaurants.

Bottom Line:

This is such a great development to the already crowded LOFT lounge at Brussels airport, however I wouldn't say that the lounge has the best catering offerings out there. Although HON Circle members get to order something from a menu, people who use the lounge without status level of HON Circle attained would still be picking from the cold buffet offering trays which doesn't add too much flavour to people's stomach. In other words, the Belgium beer has always been great.

Despite some cost-cutting incentives made to the food offerings, I am still eager to try out the lounge and hopefully write a review upon the time when the entire lounge opens in the beginning of June this year.
