United Club Lounge Review Hong Kong Airport
I've now reviewed all three Star Alliance lounges at HKG, and I genuinely feel like the United Club is on the same quality of service as the other two, with the Thai Royal Orchid Lounge has a more local flavour to it while the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge have a overall top-notch standard. I am not saying that this lounge property is the worst of the three, I mean this is probably the best United Club you'll find as many of those in America are falling behind is several aspects.
The Lounge is located near gate 60, interestingly it's on the same mezzanine level just like the Thai lounge, now I've realised that the two are on opposite sites of the floor and you can zig-zag your way to the other lounge if you find this one is a bit crowded.
They have a spacious entrance area where the check in counter is on the left, there is also an exclusive first class area within the lounge, the check in agent was decent and scanned my boarding pass without any question, then I entered the jam-packed lounge with people lining up near the breakfast counters.
Food & Drinks:
Here's the breakfast offerings at the lounge, they offered quiet a decent selection of food and it would be superb offering if you compare it with United Clubs in the states.
The hot dishes are standard for breakfast, but for many North American travellers, they might be crying when seeing this, but wait, there is more, you see the dim sum basket down below? Yeah, I highly believe this lounge is managed by the same company who are managing many other lounges at HKG, since an all-American team wouldn't be this dedicated to offer such "extravaganza". Just kidding, lounges in Hong Kong are all generally great.
Breakfast pastries spread, I have to say it looked tasty to me and you can see they are not fooling around here, boi!
Snacks and decor(?), I checked, nothing is in those baskets, was expecting some special-made desserts.
Coffee machine and tea sets.
Beverages and soft drinks.
The tomato juice is kind of special here, I am not a big fan of it, but I have a cousin who can chug a whole bottle of ketchup, so you tell me.
Liquor offerings in the morning.
Amenities:
They offer a good selection of magazines and newspaper, though slightly a bit more magazines here.
Other amenities including shower and computers, but since there were tons of people in the lounge, I didn't manage to get pictures.
Seating:
As a result of the crowdedness, I only took some pictures of unoccupied seating area; mainly on the side or corner of the lounge.
Many comfortable seating arrangements, although the lounge was busy, I wouldn't say it would be impossible to find a place to sit.
Bottom Line:
This is a great lounge to visit, it covers all your necessities and the open ceiling gives you great view to the boarding gates area and the concourse. The lounge has a strong corporate atmosphere. Unfortunately I only reviewed their breakfast offerings here, as I am sure they have a lot more to offer during lunch and dinner.
